A study has found a high glycaemic diet was associated with greater cerebral amyloid burden in cognitively normal older adults. Sugar and carbohydrate intake was significantly higher in 26% of participants found to have elevated amyloid levels, suggesting that dietary modification (including reduced sugar intake) may benefit people at risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
